Better Sleep

Rebalance your nervous system to transform your sleep habits.

When our nervous system is out of balance it affects our ability to sleep well.

Often overlooked as a cause for sleeplessness, there are practical ways to calm the nervous system.

In this workshop, we’ll discuss the nervous system, how it can help and hinder sleep, and ways to bring it into balance.

When we are constantly busy, anxious, or stressed our sympathetic nervous system, our “fight or flight” system, is activated for long periods. When this happens, our parasympathetic nervous system, our “rest and digest” system is underused and the vagus nerve which modulates this system is said to lack tone.

In this workshop we will:

  • Learn about stress & autonomic nervous system
  • Reflect on habits that may impact the nervous system
  • Cultivate healthy breathing patterns to build vagal tone
  • Explore techniques to build resilience to stress
  • Discuss sleep hygiene, mind/body hygiene

This course includes lecture, discussion, yoga, relaxation and meditation. We will reflect on habits that can help and hinder sleep.

Participants will have access to short home practices to support the work we do in class, working to balance and restore the nervous system.
